Course Description
The Web Design & Development I curriculum is an introduction to the design, creation, and maintenance of web pages and websites. Students learn how to critically evaluate website quality; learn how to create and maintain quality web pages; learn about web design standards and why they're important; and learn to create and manipulate images. The course progresses from introductory work on web design to a culminating project in which students design and develop websites for local community organizations.
Additional introductory information, including a description of the course structure; lists of course objectives and guiding principles; an overview of national skill standards, national education standards, and web design standards; and regularly updated news and resources, is available on the Curriculum Home Page.
Using The Instructor Version
The Instructor Version supplements the Student Version with the following additional content:
- Tips for teaching the material. These tips are included for each lesson. In some cases these tips refer to additional activities or resources that could optionally be included in that lesson.
- Estimated time required for completing each lesson.
- Example output for each lesson where students produce web content. Throughout the course, students are working to create a portfolio website. The example output documents each step along the way.
Structure of the Instructor Version
The Course Outline is the hub for all instructor content. Use this as your launching point for accessing unit and module pages (where instructor tips are found), and individual lesson pages. The individual lesson pages are links to pages within the student version.
